Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) latest episode isn’t sitting well with fans of The White Lotus’ Aimee Lou Wood after the skit-comedy show took aim at the actress’ appearance. And, unsurprisingly, the 31-year-old actress isn’t impressed, either.
In the most recent episode, which aired over the weekend, a pre-taped skit titled The White POTUS parodied characters from the hit HBO series while taking aim at President Donald Trump by comparing him to Jason Isaac’s character, Timothy Ratliff.
For those not up-to-date with season three of White Lotus (what are you doing?) Timothy Ratliff’s character became mentally unstable, spiralling throughout the season, after he learned he was likely going to jail for what viewers assume was insider trading.
Where the skit came undone however, was with Sarah Sherman’s impersonation of Wood’s character, Chelsea. In the clip, Sherman dons a set of fake teeth before saying, “Fluoride? What’s that?”

The dig at Wood’s appearance was not only unnecessary but utterly disappointing. Clearly, the actress felt the same.
“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” Wood posted on her Instagram Stories.
“Such a shame cos’ I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about. But there must be a cleverer, more nuanced and less cheap way?”

Wood wasn’t alone in calling out Saturday Night Live’s “uncalled for” performance, with the actress sharing fans’ responses to her Instagram Stories, too.
“Everyone else in that parody was a political figure who was being mocked. The one character who wasn’t political was Chelsea, and they were clearly just taking the piss out of your appearance/accent which is extremely c*nty and uncalled for,” one fan penned.
“It was mean and unfunny and saying it out loud removes their power,” another wrote.
Following Wood’s call out, SNL promptly apologised to the actress. A matter of hours after sharing her disappointment, Wood followed with another Instagram update revealing she’s “had apologies from SNL.” And, rightly so.
