More than a year on from her breakup with Dawson’s Creek actor Joshua Jackson, Diane Kruger has spoken out about their separation, calling it “a long time coming”.
In an interview with Vulture, Kruger revealed that the pair had actually parted ways months before they officially announced it in a group statement.
“That was something that was a long time coming,” she explained of their split.
“Also we broke up many months before we said we were broken up, so by the time I made that decision, it didn’t feel like it was so urgent anymore. You don’t break up overnight after ten years, you know what I mean?”
The 41-year-old actress revealed their relationship breakdown occurred at a time when she lost both her grandmother and stepfather. But her separation from Jackson after a decade of dating was actual ‘liberating’.
“Actually, it felt liberating because I didn’t have to worry about that anymore, so I could immerse myself 100 percent into something else.”
As US Weekly reports, Kruger dedicated herself to the German-language movie In the Fade, earning herself a best actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
In March, the German-born actress went public with her relationship with the The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus.
