The Beckhams have one of the most enduring love stories in Tinseltown, with the pop star ‘Posh Spice’ and football legend David Beckham tying the knot in 1999 and keeping their romance alive ever since.
As the result of their widely lauded union, the couple have welcomed four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
Victoria will often share little excerpts of their lives on social media, whether it’s one of Brooklyn’s infamous cooking tutorials or a new dress for Harper Seven’s birthday.
From when they had their firstborn, Brooklyn, just a few months after their marriage, to when they welcomed Harper in 2011, here’s everything you need to know about their famous brood.
Brooklyn Joseph Peltz Beckham, 24
David and Victoria welcomed Brooklyn in London on March 4, 1999. The meaning behind the name was actually pretty cute, as Victoria had found out that she was pregnant with him while in New York City.
Given his parents are basically British royalty at this point, it’s unsurprising that none other than Elton John was chosen to be Brooklyn’s godfather.
David and Victoria had already been together for two years, after meeting at a soccer game in 1997, but hadn’t yet tied the knot. They were married in July 1999, just four months to the day after their first child’s birth.
Brooklyn grew up in the family’s home in Oxfordshire, but did travel a fair amount due to his father’s soccer career, including to Spain and America.
His parents decided to protect his anonymity as much as possible while he was young, and tried to instill classic values in their son, who is rumoured to have worked at a café in Oxfordshire when he was younger to make a little spending money.
While Brooklyn tried the soccer route with Arsenal FC, he chose not to pursue it when he was 15.
He went on to model and score brand deals with Superdry and even front covers of magazines. However, it was his interest in photography that grew during his time as a model, with the youngster filming Victoria Beckham’s fashion shows and even a campaign for Burberry’s ‘Brit’ fragrance.
While he held an internship with David Sims and attended Parsons School of Design in New York for a year, he eventually left. Now, he has made the transition into being a cook, hosting online tutorials on social media during the pandemic in a series called ‘Cookin’ with Brooklyn’.
“I really enjoyed [photography] for a couple of years. I love taking pictures of my wife. I still have all my film cameras, but now it’s just more of a fun thing to do. They were kind of all hobbies. I was still trying to find that one thing I would literally die for, and I found that with cooking,” he told Variety.
On the topic of his wife, Brooklyn Beckham has dated a series of high-profile women, including Chloë Grace Moretz. However, in October 2019 he started dating model and heiress Nicola Peltz. The couple were engaged within a year and tied the knot in April 2022.
Peltz had been seen on family holidays with the Beckhams. Of their nuptials, Victoria said on TODAY, “It was a beautiful wedding.
“As a mother, to see my son so happy means so much. What more can you ask for?”
While there were widespread rumours of a feud between Nicola and Victoria, the pair appear to be on good terms now.
“I’ve said this so many times: There’s no feud. I don’t know. No one ever wants to write the nice things,” Nicola told PEOPLE in March 2023. “It’s really weird, actually, whether it’s my life or someone else’s life or whatever, when you know the truth and then you read something totally wrong.”
Romeo James Beckham, 21
Victoria and David didn’t have another baby for three years, welcoming their second child, another son on September 1, 2002. They christened their little one Romeo James Beckham, a name David said they chose because “it’s just a name we love.”
Romeo enjoyed a quiet childhood but was in and out of hospital, with Victoria divulging that he suffered with epilepsy, causing seizures. As a result, British media and paparazzi agreed to not photograph the boy, due to the bright flashes of light being a potential seizure trigger.
He began modelling young, appearing in a Burberry campaign when he was just 10 years old, but it was following in his father’s footsteps that was key to Romeo.
He joined Arsenal FC at 13, briefly stopping to play tennis, before returning to the beautiful game at Fort Lauderdale CF. Fort Lauderdale has a sister club, Inter Miami, which David Beckham co-owns. He made his professional debut in 2021.
While Romeo has traditionally been quiet about his romances, he has been dating model Mia Regan since 2019, with the couple making their first joint appearance at the British Fashion Awards in 2021.
Cruz David Beckham, 18
Just over under two-and-a-half years after welcoming Romeo, David and Victoria announced the birth of their son Cruz David Beckham on February 20, 2005.
Unlike Brooklyn and Romeo, who were both born in London, he was born in Madrid.
David admitted the couple found it “hard” to decide what to name him, but that they both loved the name Cruz and “stuck to it”.
David was playing with Real Madrid at the time, hence his birth in Spain, but he mostly lived in LA once David moved to L.A. Galaxy. He appeared on stage with the Spice Girls, aged 3, and eventually decided to follow his mother’s footsteps into music.
In December 2016 he released a Christmas song ‘If Every Day Was Christmas’, to raise money for charity. He can also play the guitar, mandolin and piano. He has also modelled, like his older brothers, and was featured on the cover of i-D in 2022 with a pink buzz-cut.
In February 2023, proud parents David and Victoria celebrated his birthday, revealing their nickname for him. “Happy 18th Birthday to our baby boy. To the most amazing boy with the most amazing energy and the biggest heart x we are so proud of you and we love you so much Cruzie,” David wrote.
“Happy Birthday Cruzie!! We all love you so much and are so proud of the incredible young man you have become,” Victoria wrote. “You are our everything. Happy 18th superstar.”
Just after turning 18, Cruz got a tattoo in tribute of his mum Victoria Beckham, with the word ‘Posh’.
Harper Seven Beckham, 12
Six years after welcoming Cruz to the family, Victoria and David had their first daughter and final child, Harper Seven Beckham. She was born in Los Angeles, where the couple had been living.
Her name has a special meaning, an English name that is connected to the author of To Kill A Mockingbird’s author Harper Lee. Seven was also special to them, a number historically linked to spiritual perfection.
“The main reason behind Seven was it symbolizes spiritual perfection — the seven wonders of the world, the seven colors of the rainbow — and in many cultures it is a lucky number. We love the name, and we love Harper Seven. We are very happy to have her in our lives and in our family, and it is an amazing time for our family right now,” Beckham shared in a Facebook post.
The couple have shared a lot of Harper Seven’s life, whether that’s horseback riding or attending her mum’s fashion events.
While Harper is still in school, she’s already surrounded her self with some celebrity brood, including Drew Barrymore’s kids Frankie and Olivia, who she met while at a local park.
With an obvious love of fashion, Harper opts for more low-key looks, not choosing to indulge in too much makeup or opt for more controversial looks. In fact, Victoria told Vogue Australia that she’s said her Spice Girls outfits were “unacceptable” and “too short”.
In July 2023, Harper celebrated her 12th birthday with a trip to the Prada Caffé in London.
