Those familiar with Cole Sprouse will know that his acting repertoire is well-versed. After a six year hiatus that saw him return to our screens as the lovably eccentric Jughead Jones on the CW’s Riverdale, the 26-year-old is now starring in a new heart-wrenching drama called Five Feet Apart.
Directed by Jane The Virgin’s Justin Baldoni, the poignant film marks Sprouse’s first movie since 1999 and follows the journey of two lovestruck teenagers diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, life-threatening condition that severely harms the lungs, digestive system, and other organs in the body.
Sprouse plays Will Newman, a young man who is diagnosed with the disorder and who falls for, Stella Grant, another CF sufferer portrayed by Haley Lu Richardson. Based on Rachel Lippincott’s novel, Will and Stella are required to stay six feet apart at all times due to their illness. That all changes when Stella dares to defy the rules and suggests that the pair step one foot closer.
The film is currently slated for released on March 22, 2019.
