Chrissy Teigen might be a supermodel but she’s also all about keeping it real. And the second-time mum wants to make sure everyone knows that motherhood (especially in those first few weeks) is not glamorous no matter who you are.
The 32-year-old, who welcomed son Miles Theodore just last week, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself – postpartum underwear or “Asian pear underwear” as she called it, comparing herself to the plastic wrapping that comes around fruit, a reference to comedian Ali Wong’s new Netflix special about motherhood, Hard Knock Wife.
“If you haven’t seen @aliwong’s new Netflix special, you are bad at picking Netflix specials #asianpearunderwear,” she captioned the pic.
To make it even better she appeared to be breastfeeding the little one at the same time, and her adorable two-year-old daughter Luna also makes an appearance in the background.
Fans praised the new mum for sending a positive message to new mums.
“Love to see real pictures like that! Instead of three weeks post partum flat six-pack bellies, achieved through plastic surgery. Love it,” one fan wrote.
“Thanks @chrissyteigen for showing “real” life. So good for our daughters to see instead of all the “beautiful”/edited /filtered pics on social media. You rock!! #reallife #beautiful#family,” wrote another.
After the birth Chrissy shared another “real” tweet about how her post-partum experience second-time around compared to her first.
“I can confirm postpartum life is 90% better when you don’t rip to your butthole. Baby boy: 1 point. Luna: 0,” she wrote on Twitter.
