Every Time Celebrities Have Been Mum-Shamed

Another day, another hater

The trials and tribulations of parenthood can be challenging at the best of times. Yet for those parents who are in the spotlight, the intense public scrutiny and constant criticism are endless. Whether they’re telling celebrities how to dress and feed their children or condemning them for simply enjoying a night out on the town, it appears that these A-listers can’t catch a break when it comes to relentless internet trolls. So without further ado, we recap the celebs who have felt the wrath of the mum-shaming brigade for the most bizarre – and not to mention ridiculous – reasons.

Kate Beckinsale

When Kate Beckinsale shared a video capturing herself and friends dancing along to an Adam Ant concert, one internet troll incorrectly assumed that the video Beckinsale shared was of her 19-year-old daughter, Lily Mo Sheen.

Why would you want your young daughter to jump around like a naive skimpy-dressed future problem child Kate” the user wrote. “I’m not rich, famous, celebrity, Hollywood, etc, but maybe you are actually decent actress, but properly deluded real-life parent wise.”

Chrissy Teigen

Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen has been the subject of parent shaming ever since the birth of her daughter Luna. Just after a month of giving birth, she was condemned for going out to dinner with her husband, John Legend. Seriously?

In 2017, both Teigen and her husband were shamed for an Instagram photo that Teigen has been deleted ever since. The photo showed the celebrity parents with their daughter whereby shamers were upset with the celebrity parents for not dressing Luna in enough layers.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham was hit hard by shamers back in 2016 after she uploaded an Instagram photo of herself kissing her daughter, Harper, on the mouth. Beckham received serious backlash for her displays of affection, with many deeming the picture “inappropriate.”

As recent as a few days ago, the former Spice Girls singer also received backlash for yet another Instagram upload. This time it featured her and her eldest son, Brooklyn (who was shirtless in the photo), sitting in a car. The mum-shamers were relentless in their concern of Brooklyn having “too many” tattoos.

Kourtney Kardashian

While on holiday Kourtney Kardashian posted a cheeky photo of her bottom. Of course, this was met with an array of angry comments from shamers who claimed she was setting a “bad example” to her daughter Penelope.

Pink

Pink faced backlash from some of her followers for posting a photo of her cooking. Shamers claimed she had her infant son, Jameson, too close to the hot pan.

Beyonce

Queen Bey had haters up in arms when she posted a photo of her sipping a glass of wine while on a date with her husband, Jay-Z. The singer was instantly criticised, not only because of her “inappropriate” cleavage, but because she was drinking wine and breastfeeding, despite the fact she has never publicly shared how she feeds her children.

Kim Kardashian West

Kim Kardashian West is no stranger to self-criticism however the reality TV star incurred the wrath of shamers when she dressed her 5-year-old daughter, North, in what appeared to be a corset. Kim was accused of putting North in danger by fastening such a tight article of clothing around her body.

Kristen Cavallari

In July 2016, Kristen Cavallari uploaded a photo of her husband playing with their sons in the ocean during a beach outing. Critics were quick to state that her sons were looking “too thin”. As expected, the former Laguna Beach reality star clapped back with just five simple words, “Yep, I starve my children.”

Megan Fox

Like all parents, Megan Fox loves sharing those adorable moments of her children with the world. Yet her uploads have been met with excessive hate. In May, the Transformers actress shared an innocent photo of her sons sitting on the beach. Yet many people had an issue with the length of her children’s hair –  and with Fox for allowing it.

Reese Witherspoon

According to the world of internet trolls, making cinnamon rolls for your children is allegedly a serious offense, which Reese Witherspoon found out the hard way. When Witherspoon uploaded a photo of her breakfast one morning, she was instantly food shamed for having breakfast with too much sugar and for promoting an unhealthy lifestyle for her kids. You just can’t win.
