While some may balk at the impending onslaught of winter – especially considering the fact ‘Winter Is Coming’ memes are now sadly redundant – I am feeling surprisingly optimistic about it. In fact, after declaring the last couple of festive seasons to be “the summer of me” (simply put: a philosophical approach to being unapologetic about living my best life), I have decided this year to partake in “the winter of me”. Instead of heading into the dark, cursing my chilblains and fantasising about cocktails on the beach, I am going to embrace winter for all that it is. For me, winter is big coats, binge-watching television series and not worrying (so much) about whether or not I should have another piece of chocolate – all the best things when you think about it.

In the most delicious form of serendipity, and to support me in my new enthusiastic endeavour, Cadbury has just announced a new line up of chocolate flavours. And, because it is a truth universally acknowledged, that anyone in possession of good choccy, must be in want of a watch, I’ve hand-selected the best new shows to enjoy while simultaneously devouring these new treats. Enjoy!
Popcorn + Big Little Lies (Season 2)
Is there anything as addictive as a salty-sweet treat? Yes, Big Little Lies. If you’re a fan of the first season – starring homegrown Nicole Kidman, forever sweetheart Reese Witherspoon and up and comer Shailene Woodley – then no doubt you’ve got the premiere date (June 9th) for season two blocked out in your diary.

Coconut Rough Fruit & Nut + Black Mirror (Season 5)
What to munch on when trying to navigate the complexities of a Black Mirror episode? A chocolate that is described as having a “textural twist” seems apt. Packed full of toasted coconut, sultanas and hazelnut pieces, this is one block to have handy when the new season airs on June 5.
Hedgehog + The Cry
A take on the iconic Australian hedgehog slice, this block of chocolate’s perfect-match is Aussie series, The Cry. Premiering earlier this year, this series stars former marie claire cover star, Asher Keddie in the television adaptation of Helen FitzGerald’s book of the same name.
Creamy Hazelnut Crunch + The Society
The Society has amassed a cult following since its debut on Netflix on May 10th – the ideal pairing for the new Creamy Hazelnut Crunch. Loyalists of hazelnut infused sweets will be fans of this gritty new series.
Crispy Mint Creme + Younger (Season 6)
If you’re into classic flavours with a millennial upgrade, then Mint Creme is for you! Similarly, Younger, which chronicles the adventures of 40-year-old Liza as she tries to pass for a 26-year-old would be your cup of tea. Season 6 begins airing on Stan June 13 – just in time for your planned winter binge!
