Fancy a reading by the Duke of Hastings? Well, count your blessings because Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page is warming up his vocal cords to softly speak you to sleep.
Much like Sir Harry Styles, Page is joining forces with mindfulness app, Calm, to launch his very own Sleep Story which has been created to help drift you off to sleep. As for what sweet nothings the Duke wants to lull listeners with, his tale of choice is from Olde England, titled The Prince And The Naturalist.
Speaking of the project, Page said: “I know how valuable relaxation is for us all, especially in trying times, so I couldn’t be more glad to lend my voice to a Sleep Story.”
The story itself follows a naturalist and his royal pupil, who discover that nature has wisdom worth listening to.
In all honesty, no matter what Page was reading—whether it be a sultry story or explaining quantum physics—our interest has certainly piqued.
If the sweet tones of the Duke wasn’t enough to scratch that itch, take a listen to the various other famous narrators, like the previously mentioned Harry Styles, Matthew McConaughey or Idris Elba.
Sadly, for those eagerly awaiting season two of our favourite Regency-era series, Page will not return to our screens, after Lady Whistledown herself confirmed his exit from the show back in April.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, the actor revealed that he knew his role would only be for a short period of time, when he accepted the job.
“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end—give us a year,” Page said. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on,”
He continued: “One of the things that is different about this [romance] genre is that the audience knows the arc completes”, adding that “they come in knowing that, so you can tie people in emotional knots because they have that reassurance that we’re going to come out and we’re going to have the marriage and the baby.”
Revealing that he is looking forward to watching the show continue without him, he said, “I have nothing but excitement for Bridgerton continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe,”
“But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.”
In the meantime, you can be rest assured that we’ll be looking forward to bedtime tonight.
