Big Little Lies won big at the Golden Globes earlier this week by nabbing awards in every category in which it was nominated.
The show’s executive producer Jean-Marc Vallée also took the opportunity to drop a few hints about the hit show’s second season while attending the star-studded event.
“Well, there’s a new character coming,” Valléetold Entertainment Tonight on the Golden Globes red carpet. “Perry’s mother, that’s all I can say.”
Perry, of course, was Celeste’s abusive husband played by Alexander Skarsgard’ in the show’s first seaon.
Liane Moriarty, who wrote the original novel Big Little Lies, is also involved with the second season, which is partially based on a story by the Australian author.
HBO said in a statement that season 2 would explore the “malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”
