If you’re desperate for your next period-drama fix, TV series Belgravia is the perfect way to fill the Downton Abbey-shaped void in your heart. 

By the same creator, Julian Fellowes, the series is set in the 1840s and begins at a high society ball on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

Based on the 2016 book of the same name, the series then jumps forward 25 years into the future, where the events of the ball and its repercussions continue to create conflict between two families.

Belgravia is a “tale of secrets and scandals” set in a time “when the upper echelons of society began to rub shoulders with the emerging industrial nouveau riche”, according to DeadlineWhich means that the new series is sure to satisfy starving Downton Abbey fans.

The series stars British actors Alice Eve and Philip Glenister, plus Sweetbitter’s Ella Purnell.
