“In the year ahead, we predict a stronger taste for heroic names for both daughters and sons, increased flexibility in using names to equalise the genders, and a more adventurous search for names that have deep roots but feel fresh in the modern world.” So says online baby name authority Nameberry (trust us, they’re legit), which released its 2018 predictions this week.
Interestingly, the site believes names inspired by “powerful women” will have the most impact in 2018 (insert fist pump here), followed by presidential names (except – ahem – Donald), fashion-forward boys’ names, Welsh names (you have Game of Thrones to thank for that), superhero names and names starting with S.
With that in mind, here are some of the names they expect to hit the big time next year.
