You know it’s almost Christmas in Australia when our biggest international-based Australian celebrities make their way home for the holidays.
As we count down the days until we’re finally able to switch off and dive into the gifts waiting for us under the tree, Aussie stars who’ve spent the year dominating screens big and small, will also likely be ready to clock off and raise a toast to the year that was.
After all, Australian celebrities heading home for Christmas just want to celebrate like the rest of us – with their tables set, cocktails flowing and Christmas day outfits sorted.
From Hugh Jackman and his family, to Australian golden couple Keith and Nicole, these are the celebrities ringing in the new year with Christmas cheer, on home soil.
Hugh Jackman
After a blockbuster year for actor Hugh Jackman, the Wolverine star has officially touched down on Australian shores for some much-needed down time. Spotted cooling off at Bondi Beach with his children Oscar and Ava in the week leading up to Christmas day, Jackman will likely be keeping things local in his Bondi penthouse – though it’s not clear if they’ll be joined by ex-wife Deborra-Lee, or not.
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman has had a busy year. Between gracing red carpets, signing on for stellar new series and serving up some of 2024’s best fashion looks, the Babygirl star will likely be finishing off the year on a calm note, back home in Australia. Rarely missing an opportunity to catch up on some family time over the holidays, she and Keith have been known to spend Christmas on their sprawling Southern Highlands farm.
The couple purchased the sprawling property for AU$6.5 million back in 2008, with the charming homestead featuring a carved cedar staircase, 10 marble fireplaces and an identifiably Australian sandstone veranda. The 111 acre farm also houses a small guest cottage just off the main house, open fields for the animals to roam and plenty of fruit trees, which Kidman is believed to enjoy picking.
Lara & Sam Worthington
Australian model Lara Worthington and husband Sam have left behind a New York winter to head home for the holidays. The couple have returned to Sydney with their sons Rocket, 9, Racer, 8 and River, 4, to spend the summer soaking up the sun near their Eastern suburbs pad.
Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky
While Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky call Byron Bay home for most of the year, the family split their time between Australia and abroad, depending on their parents’ work schedule. This year, they’ll be likely celebrating with brother Liam and his partner Gabriella Brooks, who were spotted in Sydney in the week leading up to Christmas.
Toni Collette
After filming wrapped for Toni Collette’s upcoming film Under The Stars, the actress swapped the hills of Italy’s Apulia region for the shores of Sydney, returning to home soil just in time for the holidays.
