Ariana Grande‘s ex-boyfriend of two years – who, by the way, she only broke up with two months before going public with Pete Davidson – has broken his silence on her whirlwind engagement.
Rapper Mac Miller, who Ariana dated from 2016-2018, is taking the high road, saying he’s happy Ariana is “moving forward with her life.”
“I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years,” he told told Beats 1 host Zane Lowe. “We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple.”
“It’s all positive energy. I am happy for her and [the fact that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”
It was confirmed in early May that Ariana and Mac had called it quits ahead of the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, but “in actuality, the relationship had run its course long before that,” a source told Us Weekly.
After the split was made public, Ariana took to Instagram to share a photo of Mac and the message: “Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick.”
“I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”
“Unconditional love is not selfish. It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment, it’s not you. I can’t wait to know you and support you forever and I’m so proud of you!!”
