Sick of feeling like you need to overhaul your entire life and personality as soon as the clock strikes 12 on New Year’s Eve? Us too – so these achievable New Year’s resolutions might be just the ticket to making 2025 your best yet.
A well-lived life should be crafted as a series of building blocks, the lessons from each year building on the last. A well-lived life is not built by trying to be something you’re not, nor by punishing yourself for not being able to quit your vices – and then feeling guilty when you inevitably cave.
The second Friday in January marks World Quitters Day, the date by which most people start reconsidering their New Year’s resolutions, and studies show that about 80 per cent of people have given up completely by February.
So this year, we’ve decided to do away with all these words like “given up”, “failed” and “quitter” to instead give ourselves a more positive – and realistic – chance at creating the life we want to live in 2025.
It’s not about restriction or deprivation, it’s the opposite: it’s about embracing pleasure, setting achievable (and fun) goals, and prioritising our wants and needs above what we’re told we should want and need. New year, same you.
Ahead of the new year, marie claire spoke with a range of experts who shared how they navigate their own objectives and what they’re looking forward to working towards in the year to come.
We think you’re perfectly fine just as you are. But if you’d like to start 2025 on the right foot, we’ve got the experts to help.
