57-year-old actor Willie Garson, who is best known for his role in Sex And The City as Stanford Blatch, has tragically passed away.
Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, it’s rumoured that an ongoing battle with cancer has sadly resulted in his passing.
This news comes after learning that Willie was slated to reprise his role as Carrie’s ‘GBF’ in the Sex And The City reboot And Just Like That.
Earlier this year, photos were leaked of the cast filming a funeral scene, however there is no knowledge that this scene is in anyway connected to his character.
An outpouring of love for Willie and his family has come since the announcement. Willie’s son Nathan, whom he adopted in 2009, has taken to Instagram to mourn the loss of his father.
The touching post reads:
“I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared you’re love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it ❤️😘”
Not much about Willie’s role in And Just Like That has been revealed, however we do know that he is expected to appear alongside his on-screen husband Anthony Marentino played by Mario Cantone.
Mario recently took to Instagram to share his devastation over the news.
“I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods sweet Willie. Rest …I love you.”
Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
