When it comes to celebrity sightings, some are rarer than others. At the top of this list? Victoria Beckham smiling.
When we do catch a glimpse of the pop-star-turned-fashion-designer, whether on the streets of London or the runway of her namesake label, she rarely strays from her signature pout.
So why, exactly, is the Beckham matriarch rarely seen smiling?
In 2012, she told Glamour the stoney look wasn’t always her go-to, saying, “I actually used to smile a lot in pictures.”
“I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. [Laughs.] Fashion stole my smile! I’ve created this person. And I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me…. It’s an armour that goes up.”
And, in testament to her self-deprecating brand of humour, the Brit even sported a t-shirt that read ‘Fashion Stole My Style’ en route to the airport – sans smile of course.
The following year, Victoria mused on her famous stone-cold expression to Vanity Fair, saying her face tells a different story behind closed doors.
“I smile in family pictures,” she said. “When you’re in a position to be paparazzi-ed just walking down the street, you’d look a little daft if you were smiling all the time.”
And in 2015, she joked about the topic again in an episode of Vogue’s 73 Questions, saying wryly, “I’m smiling on the inside. I feel that I have a responsibility to the fashion community.”
But, believe it or not, there are occasions when Victoria drops her ‘Posh’ demeanour, and allows her real smile to shine through.
Below, our favourite 11 moments when Beckham couldn’t resist flashing her absolutely stunning smile.
