Further drilling home the realisation that the fast-spreading virus has reminded some of us what life is really all about, American journalist, Emily Ramshaw, asked her Twitter followers to share the most positive things that have come out of life under quarantine.

“People, if you’ve got silver linings these days, share them! I’ll go: 1. I’d been stressed about how much I was traveling away from my little one this year,” she wrote. “Now I’m home for every wake-up and every bedtime, which is her personal paradise.”

In a second tweet, Ramshaw added: “2. I’m WFH with my sister as my officemate, and we haven’t spent this kind of quality time together since we terrorised each other as teenagers.”

“3. We’re FaceTiming with my parents for a half hour every day,” she continued. “Which is probably more consistent quality conversation than we’ve had in ages.”

Within minutes, Twitter users rushed to share the things they are most grateful for during self-isolation from parents being able to watch their child take their very first steps to finally having time to enjoy home-cooked meals.

“We saw our youngest kid’s first steps and the weather is nice, every day we are walking and exploring the neighbourhood plant life, seeing plants just about to bloom… practicing our counting skills by counting tulips and daffodils,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another also shared the benefits of working from home, commenting: “Having a dog, that I can take for a long walk to the trail near my house.”

“Happy just to be outside in the sunshine,” they continued. “A new appreciation for my lawn, plants and gardening. It’s spring here! I saw five butterflies on a flowering bush yesterday and just stopped to appreciate that.”
