Just when you thought Thomas Markle was giving up on his attempts to garner publicity off of his daughter’s royal status, Meghan Markle’s father has spoken to the press yet again.
Despite telling The Sun two days ago that he was giving his “last interview,” going on to say the Duchess of Sussex looks “terrified” in her new role, Markle is now saying he’s not going to quieten down until the British royal family acknowledges him.
“I was silent for a full year and the press beat me up every day saying I was a hermit hiding in Mexico, so I gave my story,” he told TMZ overnight.
“Apparently that interview put the royal family in their silence mode … so, I gave another interview to break the silence. All they have to do is speak to me.”
“Tomorrow is my birthday, 74 years old, and I’m enjoying the fact that I can make the entire Royal Family not speak and maybe I can get a laugh out of the Duchess,” he continued.
Over the weekend, Markle revealed he hadn’t heard from his famous daughter or Prince Harry since the day after their wedding. He also said the phone number he had for Meghan now isn’t connecting and efforts to speak to her through palace employees have so far not worked.
“I sent a text to my palace contact saying I would like to reach my daughter and got no reply,” he told The Sun.
“It is probably the longest time I have gone without speaking to her ever,” he explained, adding, “If I had one message for her it would be that I’m sorry for anything that went wrong.”
