When Cara Delevingne shaved her head last month, she was making a statement about society’s unrealistic beauty standards: you don’t need hair to be beautiful.

At the time, the British model said, “It’s exhausting to be told what beauty should look like. I am tired of society defining beauty for us.”

After walking the red carpet at the Met Gala with her bald head painted silver and covered in sequins, she took to Instagram to say, “Beauty shouldn’t be so easily defined. It is limitless.” Right on, CD, right on.

Delevingne’s message inspired a young cancer patient to recreate her dramatic Met Gala look – with amazing results.

According to an Instagram account set up in her honour, Brooklyn, eight, is battling her second Wilm’s tumour, a rare kidney cancer that typically occurs in children.

Delevingne declared Brooklyn her “hero” in an Instagram post with the hashtag #whoneedshair.

The eight-year-old nails the look with a metallic lip, glitter under eye and perfect brows (a la Delevingne).

In a post on the Instagram account @booklynisourhero, her friend wrote, “If you can’t have hair, have glitter and diamonds.” Words to live by.
