Teen Who Shot Father After Years Of Alleged Abuse Accepts Plea Deal

The teenager was accused of fatally shooting her father in the head in July 2016, after years of alleged abuse.

At the time, Bresha’s mother Brandi Meadows told Fox 8 that her daughter was a “hero” for ending the abuse both women said they had suffered.

“I wasn’t strong enough to get out and she helped me,” Brandi explained.

NBC reports that Bresha has finalised a plea deal with prosecutors, with her charge dropped to involuntary manslaughter.

The teenager has already spent 10 months in juvenile detention and will only serve two more before being moved to a private mental health facility.

“[Bresha] is going to have a fresh start on her life [after spending] her entire life watching and being subjected to abuse,” her attorney Ian Friedman said.

“We’re all very pleased that she’s going to get the gift of a second chance, like all of us deserve to do.”

He added that it was “the first time I’ve seen her smile, really smile and feel a little bit of optimism”.
