Paige, who came up with the idea herself, made colourful signs, one of which reads: โ€œEven though things are difficult, your life matters; youโ€™re a shining light in a dark world, so just hold on.โ€

After hearing of her kind deed, Northumbria Police presented Paige with a framed commendation certificate to recognise her selfless acts.

โ€œWe thought it was important to applaud the work Paige has been doing and the help she has given those in Sunderland who are going through a mental health crisis,โ€ said Chief Supt Pitt.

โ€œPaige has shown an incredible understanding of vulnerable people in need of support, and this is an innovative way to reach out to those in a dark place.โ€

โ€œFor somebody so young, Paige has shown a real maturity and we thought it would only be right to thank her personally. She should be very proud of herself.โ€

โ€œI wasnโ€™t doing this for an award; it was just something that I wanted to do,โ€ the inspirational teen said. โ€œMy family are just proud of me and Iโ€™m going to put it up on the wall. I just want to help people.โ€

โ€œSince I put the messages up Iโ€™ve had a lot of comments from people,โ€ she continued. โ€œTheyโ€™ve said itโ€™s been really inspiring.โ€
