The best news

It feels like it’s been an age since Taylor Swift announced she would be re-releasing her entire back catalogue as re-records. Finally, we have some news – overnight, Taylor Swift announced on Instagram that her new version of Fearless will be with us “very soon”, and her hero track Love Story is dropping tonight.

In case you weren’t across, Taylor Swift was involved in a legal battle with Scooter Braun, after Big Machine Records – her previous label – sold him all the masters of her first six albums. While he went on to sell them to a private equity firm, Taylor made the brilliant decision to simply re-record her tracks. “I have recently begun re-recording my older music, and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling,” she wrote at the time. “I have plenty of surprises in store. I want to thank you guys for supporting me through this ongoing saga, and I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming up.”

The new version of Fearless will have double the amount of songs the original release had – 26 tracks in total. “I decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album, but I’ve now gone back and recorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it, the full picture,” Taylor told Good Morning America today.

She also attached a lengthy post to her Instagram announcement which, at first, seemed like it had typos. However, eagle-eyed fans thankfully worked out a code that they believe indicates the release date of Fearless as April 9. If you connect all of the capitalised “typos”, it spells out “April Ninth”. This is definitely in line with Taylor Swift’s way of doing things – April is the fourth month of the year, and 4+9 = Taylor’s lucky number 13.
