It’s a good day for Donna Tartt fans: the movie adaptation of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Goldfinch, just got a new cast member. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard will play young Ukrainian student Boris (Dunkirk actor Aneurin Barnard has been cast as grown-up Boris), The Hollywood Reporter revealed today.
Wolfhard joins a cast teeming with Hollywood heavyweights and promising rising stars: think Ansel Elgort as The Goldfinch’s protagonist, Theo Decker; Sarah Paulson in the role of Theo’s stepmother, Xandra; Australian actress Ashleigh Cummings as Pippa and Jeffrey Wright as Hobie.

Warner Bros. bought the movie rights for The Goldfinch in 2014, a year after it was published. It centres around the extraordinary life of Theo Decker, who survives a terrorist attack at The Metropolitan Museum of New York as a boy only to become embroiled in drugs, crime and the artworks black market.
