Is Sophie Turner taking cues from her strong and steely alter ego Sansa Stark? Fresh from wrapping Game Of Thrones, the actress has proved she’s a female force to be reckoned with, speaking out against Alabama’s abhorrent anti-abortion bill while promoting the big-screen epic X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Turner announced that as of now, she refuses to work in states with restrictive access to abortion (she’s among 50 Hollywood A-listers to put this in writing, including Alyssa Milano and Amy Schumer.) It’s a significant statement, considering the state of Georgia is reportedly the third largest film production hub in the US.
“I have yet to tell my agents I signed [the letter],” she said. “They’re going to be like: ‘What? You can’t work in these states?’ Yeah I can’t work in these states.”
Turner then acknowledged that much of Game Of Thrones was filmed in Northern Ireland, another region where women can face life imprisonment for terminating a pregnancy. “There was a lot of work on Game Of Thrones there,” Turner affirmed. “So luckily we’re moving on.”
She also shared her stance on Instagram, via this impassioned post.
All hail Sansa, Queen of the North!
