During the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s five-day royal tour of Pakistan, Kate Middleton flexed her diplomatic muscles in a series of traditional ensembles from homegrown designers including Maheen Khan and Gul Ahmed. According to an eagle-eyed royal fan, the couple attended a previously unannounced engagement on October 15 ahead of a formal reception held by the British High Commissioner, Thomas Drew, in Islamabad. Following the couple’s latest royal tour, the Duchess of Cambridge surprised fans by posting her first personal Instagram message since joining the royal family in 2011. In a social media move which delighted us all, Kate spoke candidly about her time spent in the country – specifically her experiences at local children’s charity, SOS Village.
“The community at the SOS Village is built around family – and the best possible family you could imagine – where everyone comes together to nurture, love and protect the children in their care,” she wrote.
In a surprisingly personal touch, the royal even signed off the post with just her first name: “These vulnerable children, many who have come through traumatic circumstances, are nurtured in this caring environment and are able to form these quality relationships that they so desperately need to thrive. – Catherine.”
