Actress and activist Selma Blair (46) recently took to Instagram to reveal her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in a brave post.
In a heartfelt message to her fans and followers, the Cruel Intentions star described the impact of the illness in her everyday life and the reality of living with MS.
“I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps.”
Blair continued, “But if you see me, dropping crap all over the street, feel free to help me pick it up. It takes a whole day for me alone.”
In the post, the actress thanked her close friends and fellow 90’s stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr for their support, as well as sharing why she made the decision to go public.
“I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others…And even to myself. You can’t get help unless you ask.”
Incredibly it seems Blair has been living with MS for probably 15 years, having presented symptoms which had been ignored until she fell down in front of her friend’s brother, who happens to be a doctor, and complained of severe neck pain.
Expressing relief at her diagnosis Blair wrote: “I have probably had this incurable disease for 15 years at least. And I am relieved to at least know. And share.”
