The Catholic school teacher shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram

Just days after one of the happiest days of her life, primary school teacher Jocelyn Morffi received devastating news.

After marrying her partner of two-years Natasha Hass, and posting their wedding snaps to Facebook, Morffi found out that she had been fired from her teaching post.

The Miami first-grade teacher had worked at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School for seven years before posting photos of her Florida Beach wedding ceremony and first dance, The Washing Post reports.

“This weekend I married the love of my life and unfortunately I was terminated from my job as a result,” Morffi posted on Instagram.

“In their eyes I’m not the right kind of Catholic for my choice in partner.”

According to The Miami Herald, Morffi had been asked to resign on Wednesday when she returned to work but she declined. She was reportedly fired the next day.

A letter distributed to parents by the school explained that the teacher had been fired, but did not offer an explanation.

“We were completely outraged, all of the parents,” parent Samantha Mills told The Miami Herald.

“This teacher in particular has made such a contribution to the school. She never imposes her personal beliefs on others. She just does everything in love. She has a way of teaching that is so amazing.”

Although the school has not responded to requests for comment, the Archdiocese of Miami spokeswoman Mary Ross Agosta confirmed that the teacher had been fired.
