Sarah Ferguson Will Make History At Her Daughter Beatrice’s Royal Wedding

It will be an even more special occasion than when her daughter Eugenie got married

Last year was undoubtedly a special one for Sarah Ferguson who watched the first of her two daughters, Princess Eugenie, get married. But next year, when her other daughter Princess Beatrice says ‘I do’ to her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, it will be an even more important occasion.

Thanks to a recent law change that now allows couples in Britain to include their mothers’ names on their marriage certificates, Fergie will be the first mother of the bride recorded at a royal wedding. Previously, it was only the fathers of the bride and groom who were listed in the church records.

Taking to Instagram following the news of Beatrice’s engagement last week, the Duchess of York said, “I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law.”

Unlike her sister Eugenie, who had a big £2 million wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle (the same place Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married), Princess Beatrice is expected to have a smaller wedding.

“She has talked about having a smaller affair in the past,” a friend of Beatrice’s told People.

“I think in her heart Beatrice would like to be married in Italy where Edo’s from, but there’s no way the Queen will fly to Europe for the wedding so it will have to be in England,” royal expert Ingrid Seward told OK Magazine.

“Beatrice and Eugenie are super close, but they are very different,” a source said to People. “Beatrice is more serious and Eugenie is the outgoing extrovert, she’s so bubbly and fun. Beatrice is more reserved and discreet. She holds back more, she is very polite, very well-educated but more formal and quiet in her personality, so I think it will be a very different wedding to Eugenie’s.”
