Since Witchery launched its White Shirt campaign a decade ago, more than $10 million has been raised for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. To mark the milestone, 10 prominent Australian women are showing their support for the cause by wearing Witcheryโs capsule collection of 10 iconic white shirts in the May issue of marie claire. Here Kylie Gillies, Samantha Jade and Samantha Armytage reveal why this campaign is so important to themโฆ

โI need to help my fellow womenโ
KYLIE GILLIES
โI went to a very powerful lunch hosted by the OCRF where I heard firsthand stories from women affected by ovarian cancer. One of the women was in her early 30s, she had two small children and her whole life in front of her and bang! The diagnosis came out of nowhere. She hadnโt done anything wrong, it was just thrust upon her. Thatโs why itโs so important we find an early detection test.โ

โI will do anything I can to take a stand against cancerโ
SAMANTHA JADE
โUnfortunately we live in a world where everybody has been touched by cancer. Itโs a very close issue to me because of my mum, Jacqui [who passed away in 2014 after a short battle with an aggressive cancer]. Cancer is a horrible disease, but the fact that thereโs no early detection test for ovarian cancer is scary. Thatโs why Iโm going to keep using my voice and being a part of these campaigns.
โWhat I learnt from my mumโs experience with cancer is that you need to appreciate the people you have in your life โ which you often donโt until theyโre gone. Tell your family you love them and give them a hug, because you might not be able to one day.โ

โThe symptoms of ovarian cancer arenโt always obviousโ
SAMANTHA ARMYTAGE
โI think ovarian cancer is something all women should be aware of. You have got to know your body and notice any changes because the symptoms of ovarian cancer arenโt always obvious. As women, we tend to put ourselves last, [but] we cannot do that because if itโs too late, then itโs too late.โ
