The Royal Family May Break Tradition This Easter

For several reasons

The Royal Family are usually sticklers for tradition, sticking to what they know for all occasions of the year. But this year it could all change.

The QueenPrince Philip, Prince Charles and wife Duchess Camilla, as well as Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle usually attend an Easter service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed last year, on Easter Sunday.

In the run-up to the festivities, the 92-year-old monarch will visit numerous cathedrals around the country as part of her Maundy Money tradition, which sees the Queen hand coins out to 80 men and women. However, this year the Queen’s actual birthday falls on April 21, falls on Easter Sunday – which could throw a huge spanner in the works.

Although Her Majesty officially marks her special birthday on the second Saturday in June, known as Trooping The Colour, she may decide to celebrate privately on Sunday.

Plus, Kate Middleton and Prince Wiliam are in the midst of planning their youngest son Prince William’s birthday on April 23 – the day after Easter Monday.

Not only has the Queen’s 93rd birthday thrown the Royal Family’s plans out of whack, but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are due to welcome their first child any day now (and quite possibly, it could fall on Easter Sunday).

It’s a busy time to be a Royal!
