Just hours after announcing their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared at Kensington Palace for their first official photographs together. And as we all imagined, the happy couple were beaming.
Dressed in a white coat, Meghan flashed her stunning engagement ring while standing alongside her fiancé. The Suits actress told media she was “very happy” by the news, while Harry added that he was “thrilled”.
Although Harry chose not to reveal how he popped the question, when asked if the proposal was romantic, he replied: “Of course it was”.
Kensington Palace confirmed the news of the royal engagement with a statement earlier in the day.
“His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month,” the statement reads.
“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”
The pair will speak exclusively to the BBC’s Mishal Husain, to be aired at 6pm UK time.
As The Guardian reports, aides have suggested the ceremony will be “a happy church wedding,” with more details expected to be released on Tuesday.
Meghan and Harry have been dating since July 2016 but their relationship wasn’t confirmed until November. Meghan has recently quit her acting job on Suits to relocate from Toronto to London.
