If the rumours are to believed, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby will have some seriously famous godparents. Daily Mail reports that George and Amal Clooney are “all but confirmed” to take on the role and that George has “told a couple of people he has a strong hunch” that they might be picked by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
While the Clooneys might seem a confusing choice, the two couples are closer than we first thought. “Amal and Meghan have been close for years, and Harry and George have become buddies because of that,” a source told The Daily Mail, adding, “They’re much closer than the headlines let on.”
Despite being friends with Amal for years, Meghan’s move to the UK and the public’s huge interest in her because of Harry has brought the women closer.
In August, an insider told E! that “it helps they’re both UK-based now, but they have been able to relate on a lot about their lifestyles, especially how to deal with being thrust into new situations in the public spotlight. They also said, “Amal is like a confidante to Meghan.”
It also pays to note that royals have more godparents than us commoners: Prince George has seven sets of godparents, Charlotte has five, and Louis has six. Prince Harry and William also have six each.
