Robert De Niro has announced he is officially a dad to seven children at age 79.
The actor didn’t share the information on Instagram, as many celebrities are wont to do these days.
Instead, the news just kind of popped out (excuse the pun), during an interview with ET Canada.
The star actor, known for his portrayal of interesting parental figure Jack Byrnes in Meet The Fockers, revealed the existence of his youngest child when talking about his approach to parenting.
When asked by the interviewer about his six children, he admitted: “Seven, actually.”
“I just had a baby,” he continued.
He did not reveal any information about the new baby at the time, instead talking a little about his approach to being a dad over the years.
For reference, De Niro’s first child was adopted by him 51 years ago, and his first biological child is now 46.
“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,” he said.
“And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”
However, he has since shared the name of his daughter (yes, a girl!), Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro.
The news means that De Niro is both a new father and grandparent simultaneously.

Not much is known about Gia as yet, but her parentage was confirmed with the announcement of ‘Chen’ in her last name.
De Niro has been linked to martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen since 2021. She was spotted with a baby bump in April 2023.
