There have been plenty of amazing photos of Kate Middleton and Prince William, but you’ll notice one common theme in all of them: the couple almost never touch.
The Royal couple tends to maintain decorum at public events (though they can be seen hugging at sporting games sometimes).
Myka Meier, a royal etiquette expert, told PEOPLE:
“There is no actual etiquette or royal protocol that says the couple must refrain from PDA.”

She continues: “The likely reasoning is more that while traveling on a tour such as the India trip, technically the couple are working representatives of British Monarchy. The couple are likely to show very little PDA, if any, to remain professional during their designated roles abroad.”
This explains why even in front of such a romantic location as the Taj Mahal, the Royal couple didn’t hold hands.
