The touching note, which was written over 24 years ago was shared by Burrell as a show of support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry amid their transition out of the royal family.
On Sunday, the former footman to Queen Elizabeth and then butler to Princess Diana shared a photo of the late princess with her sons, William and Harry, alongside a section of the handwritten note she had written for him.
“I love my boys to death and hope that the seeds I’ve planted will grow and bring the strength, knowledge and stability that is needed.”
Burrell offered his support to the couple, as he reflected on the wise and pertinent meaning behind Diana’s message.
“As Harry, Meghan and Archie embark on a new life, I am reminded of some poignant words which Princess Diana wrote to me many years ago. They are a mother’s words of unconditional love which are as appropriate today as they were when she wrote them over 24 years ago.”
Burrell had previously taken to Instagram following the announcement of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal resignation, writing, “My thoughts have been with Meghan and Harry this week as they take a huge step into a new life. I have also been thinking of Princess Diana and wondering what she would have thought. In my heart I know that she would want Harry and Meghan to be happy above all else.”
