The plane hit an electrical storm and lightning could be seen over the right-wing as the jet battled the elements.
In fact, the storm was so bad that the pilot had to return back to Lahore for safety and what should have been a 25-minute flight turned into a two-hour journey.
But the royals remained in good spirits, despite the rocky journey with Prince William even joking that he was the one flying the plane.
Earlier in the day the couple visited the SOS Children’s Village in Lahore, where they celebrated the birthdays of not one, but three children Iman, 12, Daniyal, 8 and Ibrahim, 6.
“Earlier this year I talked about the fact that it takes a village to raise a child,” Kate said. “The village we have seen here today is the best representation of that ideal that I could have possibly imagined.”
The pair then joined the children for a friendly game of cricket at the National Cricket Academy.
Following in the footsteps of the late Princess Diana’s visit in 1990, Prince William and Kate then went to the same mosque and cancer hospital.
