Prince Harry Just Had The Most Awkward Moment About Meghan Markle… And We’ve All Been There

Ever had someone assume you're getting married to your new partner?

Prince Harry just had a very awkward moment on his trip to the Caribbean. Though he has only recently confirmed his relationship with US actress Meghan Markle, the Prime Minister of Antigua is already planning their future.

In a televised presentation of Prince Harry’s official reception in Antigua, Prime Minister Gaston Browne reminded Harry that the Carribean is a very popular honeymoon destination.

“I understand that there may be a new addition to the Royal Family very soon,” he said in front of the media.

“I am told that there may be a princess and I just want to say that should you make the decision to honeymoon then Antigua and Barbuda want to welcome you.”

Not taking a hint, but in the most well-meaning way possible, he continued by pushing the honeymoon idea.

“We have been voted consistently as the best honeymoon destination in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world so there will be nowhere in the world as special to spend your honeymoon when that day arrives,” he said.

Prince Harry did not take it too well, but clearly had to take it silently. That face, though.

Don’t worry, Harry, we’ve all been there. Whether it’s friends saying “so, when can we expect an engagement ring?” or parents being persistent about grandchildren, people are often ready to rush your relationship before you’ve even chatted about the second date!

Prince Harry’s situation has escalated pretty quickly though, with Kensington Palace releasing an unprecedented statement condemning the abuse that was targeted at Meghan Markle soon after rumours started that they were dating.

“The past week has seen a line crossed,” the statement read.

“Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.

“Some of it has been hidden from the public – the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.”

No doubt that while he understands the public’s interest in his personal life, he is not taking the rumours and assumptions lightly about their future.
