Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ticked off a major royal milestone last night, appearing at their first black tie event together at the annual Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony. Plus, it was Markle’s first ever royal speech.
Markle took to the stage to hand out an award, telling the crowd: “I’m truly privileged to be here”.
But after her thoughtful introduction, a silence ensued when it was her co-presenter’s time to speak. Cue awkward paper shuffling, giggles and laughter from the crowd.
She may have left the show Suits, but 33-year-old Markle is still a big fan of wearing one, stepping out in a sleek black Alexander McQueen pantsuit and a crisp white shirt and fighting the London drizzle with an umbrella. Meanwhile, Harry chose a sharp blue suit and navy tie.
According to Kensington Palace, the awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women in their sporting and adventure challenges.
