In a rare statement to UK newspaper The Telegraph, the publication reported that the couple themselves had shared the details of their new charity, which they have been working on behind-the-scenes during self-isolation.
The sweetest detail is in the charities name, Archewell, which includes the Greek word Arche – meaning a source of action – and was also the inspiration behind the name of their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
“Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of Arche – the Greek word meaning source of action. We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name,” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly shared with the publication.
The pair also told the newspaper that with their charity, they wanted to “do something of meaning, to do something that matters.” As for what this will entail, The Telegraph revealed that the duke and duchess’s new charity would focus on creating a multi-media educational empire, which involves running support groups as well as a wellbeing website.
With a keen interest in wellbeing and health, we would not be surprised if the Sussexes new wellbeing website stemmed from Meghan’s pre-royal venture, The Tig. Her lifestyle blog, which she had to shut down following her engagement to Prince Harry was filled with food, travel and lifestyle advice. As a new mum, there’s no doubt Meghan will have plenty of new insights to share with her readers once the website is up and running.
