Not content with letting his bride-to-be endure the gloomy British weather, Prince Harry wisely whisked Meghan Markle off to the French Riviera to ring in the new year.
The pair were spotted attempting to go incognito (and failing) on an economy flight out of London, with Harry wearing a baseball cap pulled low over his face and Markle wearing a black beanie. According to reports, they boarded the 9.55am flight before other passengers and headed for the back of the plane.
“They sat at the back,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It was the morning flight from Heathrow. I guess they did it so that they could get on and off separately.”
The couple then headed to Monaco via helicopter before enjoying the New Year’s festivities with friends. In true Prince Harry style, the pair reportedly “partied like tycoons”, proving once and for all that Meghan and Harry are the most relatable royal couple.
It may have been a last attempt at “normal life” for the pair, as their first official 2018 royal engagement will take place on January 9.
“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle will visit @ReprezentRadio in Brixton on 9th January, to see their work supporting young people through creative training in radio and broadcasting, and to learn more about their model of using music, radio and media for social impact,” Kensington Palace tweeted in a statement.
It will mark the second official royal engagement for Markle, who made her first appearance alongside the royal family on Christmas Day.
