As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding draws ever nearer, we are finding out more and more details about their big day.
The latest news is that the pair are planning a floral tribute to the prince’s late mother, Princess Diana.
The royal couple are working with florist Phillippa Craddock on their floral arrangements for the big day, and according to People, it will include white garden roses, which were the princess’ favourite flower.
Last year a temporary garden featuring white roses, was opened at Kensington Palace, Diana’s former London home, marking the 20th anniversary of her death.
“I am excited and honored to have been chosen by Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle to create and design their wedding flowers,” says Craddock of landing the royal gig.
“Working with them has been an absolute pleasure. The process has been highly collaborative, free-flowing, creative and fun. The final designs will represent them as a couple, which I always aim to achieve in my work, with local sourcing, seasonality and sustainability being at the forefront,” she added.
It’s also widely rumoured that Meghan Markle plans to wear the same tiara Diana wore on her wedding day to Prince Charles.
“Both on her wedding day and on a number of other formal occasions, Princess Diana wore a tiara owned by her family, known as the Spencer Tiara. The piece has not been worn in public since Princess Diana’s death, but there are rumours that the Spencer family may lend it to their nephew’s bride for the occasion of their wedding in May,” according to the experts at Debrett’s, who’ve partnered up with Bicester Village for a Modern British Wedding guide.
The Spencer tiara was extra special to Diana, so it would be a fitting tribute and would no doubt be the perfect finishing touch to Meghan Markle’s wedding dress.
Harry has kept his mother’s memory alive throughout this new chapter of his life, famously designed Meghan’s engagement ring using two diamonds from his mother’s personal collection.
“I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness is – and the inclusion of that and obviously not being able to meet his mom it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us,” Meghan said of the ring during the couple’s engagement interview in November.
