The palace has confirmed that Prince Albert II of Monaco has contracted coronavirus. Though other details are yet to be known on the 62-year-old royal’s condition, the news comes just days after Albert declared all travel within the principality would be restricted to essentials – including health care and grocery shopping – in an effort to flatten the curve, according to the Monaco Tribune.

Group activities inside and outside the principality were also banned, and construction sites were halted. Similar efforts have been made in cities and countries across the globe.
“The way out of this health crisis will depend on your ability to comply with the measures applied,” Albert said in the video announcement, per the Tribune.
Worldwide, there are more than 190,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and nearly 8,000 deaths related to the virus, according to a recent report from the World Health Organization.
