Including how the event is donating to the bushfire crisis

The Portsea Polo is one of the biggest event on any fashion lover’s calendar. Year after year, the event brings out some of Australia’s best and brightest to Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, providing the ultimate summer wardrobe inspiration. In the past, Aussie favourites such as Phoebe Tonkin and Abby Lee Kershaw have stood centre stage, while international stars have included Georgia Fowler and Whitney Port.

This year’s Portsea Polo, which takes place on January 11, marks the event’s 20th year. Below, we’ve rounded up some important things to know about the event – including how it plans to support the current bushfires, who will be in attendance, and of course, what to wear.

Bushfire Support

This Saturday Portsea Polo, in association with Stella Artois, has pledged $100 per goal scored throughout the tournament to the Country Fire Authority (CFA). Guests and patrons of the Portsea Polo will also be given the opportunity to donate to the CFA on Saturday via Portsea Polo staff who will be facilitating a fundraising station throughout the afternoon. Portsea Polo will have an ATM on-site, so guests will be able to access cash to support the CFA.

As per previous years, Portsea Polo will also continue to support their designated charity partner, The Alfred Foundation, who will be selling Portsea Polo Anniversary Caps with proceeds supporting critical care at The Alfred Foundation.

Who Will Be There

On top of the usual celebrity guests, actress Aisha Dee has been announced as Forever New’s celebrity guest. The Bold Type actress will attend Forever New’s exclusive marquee, no doubt bringing her unique sense of style with her.

What To Wear

When it comes to the polo, there are some easy and foolproof rules to follow so you can be best on field. Using some of our favourite looks from past years, we’ve rounded up a few ways to look your best this year, hassle-free. Below, what to wear to the 2020 Portsea Polo.

Don’t Be Afraid To Be Daring

It may be a daytime event but as Georgia Fowler proves, it pays to be daring. Pair a simple dress with some major accessories, and you’ve nailed the polo dress code.

Show Your Individuality

Do as Rebecca Harding does, and play with your own unique individuality. Add your favourite boots to a played up dress, or add in statement accessories. Also, it’s important to note that unlike the races, there are no strict rules when it comes to dressing. This means you can experiment with shorter hem lengths and more skin-baring outfits. But remember, it’s still a formal event!

Play With Colour And Print

Considering the event is outdoors and in summer, it doesn’t hurt to play with colours and prints.
