Everyone’s favourite actress/writer/misfit, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, has just won the 2019 comedy actress Emmy for her titular role in Fleabag.

She beat out fellow legends Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Christina Applegate (Dead to Me), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel) and Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) to take home the gold.

“No! Oh my god, no!” she said in disbelief as she accepted the award. “Thank you. I find acting really hard and really painful. But it’s all about this. Thank you to be nominated with these unbelievable actresses who I’ve looked up to and watched and laughed with for so many years – it means so much. I mean that in a nice way. And this means a huge amount to me.”

Her face really says it all…

The uber-talented Waller-Bridge – who wrote, created and starred in Fleabag – also took out the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and her director Harry Bradbeer won Outstanding Director for a Comedy Series for the cult-hit show.

“Huge thanks again – the Fleabag gang, there they are, thank you so much,” continued Waller-Bridge in her acceptance speech. “I’m so supported on the show. As Harry said, it’s sickening how much we all love each other. I’m so supported by the wonderful cast. A big shout-out to my acting agent, who has been rooting for me literally from the very beginning.”

We’re also rooting for you PWB! Get it, girl.

Waller-Bridge is nominated for the big award of the night – Outstanding Drama Series – for her producing work on Killing Eve. She’s up against big-shots Game Of Thrones and Bodyguard, but we reckon three times a charm. Triple threat, baby.
