A 36-year-old woman has been found dead in her Sydney home just five months after the deaths of her two teenage children.
Police went to Olga Edwards’ home in Sydney’s West Pennant Hills yesterday to conduct a welfare check, during which they found her body, SMH reports.
Edwards lost both of her children on July 5th this year, after her estranged husband tracked down the family and shot dead their two children, Jack Edwards, 15, and Jennifer Edwards, 13, while they were home alone. He then drove to his home and shot himself.
Edwards found her daughter and son’s bodies that evening when she returned home from work, news.com.au reports. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Since losing her children she has been in and out of hospital and police have been in constant contact with her and became worried when they didn’t hear from her,” a police source told The Daily Telegraph, revealing Edwards had “been struggling lately” and was dreading Christmas without her family.
Australians are taking to social media to express their grief and sadness over Edwards’ death this morning. “This horrible story about Olga Edwards is utterly tragic and says all you need to know about the repercussions from the actions of cowardly, selfish, violent men,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“I want to express the profound effect the news about Olga Edwards has had on me but I can find no adequate words,” writer Jane Caro posted.
