While some people are searching for “the one,” Brooklyn artist Nola Darling has found three.
Nola (DeWanda Wise) is in her late twenties and is struggling to divide her time between her work, her friends and the three men in he life in Netflix’s new series, She’s Gotta Have It.
We meet Mars Blackmon (Anthony Ramos), a bike courier and wanna-be rapper; narcissistic but buff model Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony) and Jamie Overstreet (Lyriq Bent), an investment banker who prides himself on his maturity—and sensitive poetry.
But as Nola reminds us in the trailer for the new series, she’s nobody’s girl. “I’m not a freak, I’m not a sex addict, and I’m damn sure nobody’s property,” she declares at the end of the clip.
If you’re not sold on the show already, here’s another reason why you should add it to the top of your Netflix queue. The series is directed by film icon Spike Lee (Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X), who is bringing his characters from his effortlessly cool 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It, to the small screen.
