The marie claire team spent a hell of a lot of time on the couch last year binge-watching the unnerving, psychological thriller Mindhunter, the nail-biting whydunnit The Sinner and Margaret Atwood drama Alias Grace.

And 2018 is shaping up to be another stellar year for the streaming giant, with Netflix annoucing a new anthology crime drama.

Seven Seconds follows the aftermath of when a police officer accidentally hits a black Jersey City teenager with his car and attempts to cover it up. The series follows the rising racial tensions in the town, the impact on the boy’s family, and the flaws of the justice system.

One of the reasons we know we’re in for a cracker series: Seven Seconds is created and executive produced Veena Sud of The Killing (another addictive show to add to your list).

The cast includes American Crime’s Regina King and Russell Hornsby as the teenager’s parents plus Beau Knapp, Raul Castillo and David Lyons as police officers.
