You’ve no doubt heard whisperings of Netflix’s latest true-crime series, Don’t F**k With Cats rumbling around. This three-part series has got to be the best thing the streaming service has released all year (yes, I said it), and has got the Internet collectively yelling, “How the f**k did this happen?”

The docuseries tells the story of a host of cyber sleuths determined to track down a man who posted a disturbing and sickening video torturing and killing two kittens. The video is not shown, but the description and faces of those who have seen it is enough to explain how truly horrific it was.

Soon after this video appeared online, a Facebook group dedicated itself to tracking the man down and bringing him to justice. Deanna Thompson and John Green let the investigation, and analysed every frame from the video picking apart location giveaways. Safe to say, the investigation took some seriously dark and twisted turns. Not only does the perpetrator seem to enjoy the cat-and-mouse game as well as the attention he is receiving, but he releases a second and equally disturbing video that suggested he intended to harm a human next.

After a series of more disturbing videos torturing cats, the group identified the man as Luka Magnotta.

It was in 2012 that Magnotta escalated his crimes and murdered Jun Lin, a 33-year-old computer engineering student from China. He released a video of himself brutally killing Lin, and then mailed his feet and hands to political parties in Canada. Magnotta was eventually apprehended in an internet cafe, where he was discovered reading news stories about his crimes. In 2014, he was convicted of Lin’s murder, and sentenced to life in prison. Magnotta will be eligible for parole in 20 years.

While we don’t want to give too much away, have a look at how some of the Internet has reacted so far:
