Netflix is killing it (pardon the pun) in the crime thriller department lately, from The Sinner to Mindhunter and Seven Seconds.
This week comes the release of Collateral, a compelling four-part miniseries co-produced by the BBC and Netflix, and starring Academy Award-nominated Carey Mulligan.
The first episode begins with a murder mystery that hangs over the entire series: a Syrian pizza delivery man is shot twice in the head by a hitman on the steps of a woman’s front door.
Mulligan, in the role of DI Kip Glaspie, is tasked with solving the grisly crime. She soon discovers the shooting could be part of a wider conspiracy, which shifts the series from murder mystery to political thriller.
If the trailer doesn’t have you hooked, another reason to love Collateral is its excellent creative team. The series is written by lauded playwright David Hare (The Hours, The Reader) and directed by Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ S.J. Clarkson.
You can watch the entire series on Netflix now. See you on the couch.
