What is Murder To Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story about?
Murder To Mercy follows the tragic story of Cyntoia Brown, who was forced into sex trafficking as a teenager. Brown was just 16-years-old when she murdered 43-year-old Johnny Allen, after he solicited her at a Nashville restaurant.
Cyntoia argued that she shot Allen out of self-defence, as she believed he was about to hurt her. However, prosecutors did not believe her claims and in a shocking and controversial turn of events, Brown was tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery.
The documentary will cover all aspects of Brown’s life, from her childhood and history of abuse to her eventual release.
When was Cyntoia Brown released?
Following an extensive social media campaign championed by influential celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Rihanna, Brown was granted clemency and officially released from prison on 7 August 2019; exactly 15 years from the date she was first arrested. Under her original sentence, Cyntoia would have been eligible for parole at age 67.
When is the release date for Murder To mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story?
